The Roy Sheargold Scholarship, awarded each year by UDIA NSW in conjunction with Sheargold, enables young industry professionals to conduct research or further their education.
The 2018 winner is Tony Amidharmo, a former structural engineer and now Assistant Development Manager with Aqualand, currently working on the iconic Blue at Lavender Bay. Tony is greatly interested in BtR (Build to Rent), presently a hot buzzword in the Australian property industry. He plans to use the scholarship monetary contribution to investigate the existing BtR models in the UK and US, and to challenge the BtR models currently being trialled in Australia, to determine if the BtR is economically viable in Australia, and whether it is only viable to large scale developers and investors?
We, at Sheargold, are proud to be supporting Tony in this innovative research which potentially could help unlock the BtR sector in Australia and provide additional housing supply to address the current housing affordability crisis.
